Sugar Block 2013 quilt

I have been wanting to join a linky party for some time but it seems the weeks fly by but today I remembered to post and will link with WIP Freshly Pieced. I love looking at everyone's WIP. Now that the snow is gone and it's back to teaching everyday, I find a lot less time to work on all of the quilts I have going but I'm almost done with my blue/green solids Sugar Block Club quilt from last year.  All I need to do is cut and sew the outside border which I plan to use all of the leftover pieces to make a strip pieced border.  Here is the progress so far.

This quilt matches my bedroom so it will probably be put at the end of our bed.  My 6'3" hubby says I need to make quilts that fit him better, but I say some quilts are just better decorations. Any quilt I make that we wrap up in is always long enough to fit him and my two tall sons.

Totally quilt unrelated as I typed this post I looked outside and this is what I saw. It's nights like this that I really love living on the lake.

More snow, more time for quilting

I thought when I moved from Michigan to North Carolina I could avoid these wintery blasts but not this winter.  We have been off school since Wednesday, the bad we will have to make up these days, the good I finally was able to finish piecing my nephew's wedding quilt. I like how the quilt turned out but it tested my math skills, not sure I'll make a quilt based on a picture only again.  I'm not sure how I will quilt it but will think on it a bit before I do. I think I am going to call this quilt Twister Trouble.

I am also cruising along on the 2013 Sugar Block Club blocks.  These blocks were designed by Amy Gibson of Stitchery Dickory Dock are made with all solids.  Think when I finish this will go in my bedroom. I love all the blues and greens.

My goal this year is to continue to quilt away and things I have either started or have the fabric to start but I see so many new projects that I would love to do, guess I need another niece or nephew to get married so I can buy new yummy fabrics. Until next time or next snow day.
