Catching up

Now that the school year is finally done for summer, I find myself catching up with the things I enjoy. Even though it's been hot here in North Carolina I have managed to do a little baking.  Last week's farm produce basket yielded zucchini and with my very picky son the only way I can get him to eat many vegetables is by adding it to dessert. There is no better way to get him to eat zucchini but to put it in chocolate cake and thanks to Six Sisters Stuff I found a very yummy chocolate zucchini cake recipe.
I have also found time or should I say have made time for my other love quilting.  I am so far behind in delivering quilts to nephews that got married last year but with an upcoming trip to our home state of Wisconsin in just a couple of weeks, I've made a point to finish these quilts so that they can be delivered.  I also finished my Charm Pack Cherry baby quilt for a coworker and that was given to her before school finished.

The wedding quilts are awaiting the hand stitching of the bindings so as soon as I finish that I will be sure to upload pictures.  I have my Sugar Block 2013 quilt yet to be quilted then I'm not sure what I will get started on.  Maybe I'll finish my lil' twister Christmas tree quilt or maybe I will work on a new tree skirt, something I got the fabric for last fall. I guess it's never to early to start thinking about Christmas.  As always I wish I could be home and quilt and bake all day but with college expenses for son 1 and soon for son 2 I will have to prep for another school year during my summer break.  Until next time.
